Hamlet Fund Program Launched to Strengthen Local Development in Lumajang

Globaltoday.id, Lumajang – The government of Lumajang has introduced a new program called “Dana Dusun” (Hamlet Fund) in 2026. This program aims to improve development at the local level by involving the community directly in decision-making.

Unlike previous approaches, this program focuses not only on budget distribution, but also on changing how development is planned—from a top-down system to a more participatory, community-based approach.

The Regent of Lumajang, Indah Amperawati, explained that the program is designed to ensure development starts from the real needs of the people.

“The fund is discussed together by hamlet leaders, residents, and village officials. This way, development matches real needs, not assumptions,” she said during the inauguration of Masjid Jami’ Al-Khoirot in Randuagung, Monday (April 27, 2026).

Community Involvement is Key

Through community meetings, residents can share their daily problems, such as poor street lighting, damaged roads, and the need for security systems like CCTV.

This approach makes development more meaningful—not just building infrastructure, but also involving people in the process.

One of the main priorities of the program is to create a safe and comfortable environment. Street lighting and neighborhood security are important because they directly affect people’s daily lives.

“If the environment is safe and well-lit, community activities will grow. People can feel the impact immediately,” the Regent added.

Faster and More Targeted Development

The Dana Dusun program helps bridge the gap between planning and real conditions in the field. Each hamlet has its own unique problems, which are sometimes not covered in larger development plans.

With this program, solutions can be faster, more accurate, and more suitable to local needs.

Building Awareness and Responsibility

The program also has an educational value. People are not only beneficiaries, but they also learn about planning, setting priorities, and managing development in their area.

However, the success of the program depends on good management, transparency, and accountability. Supervision will be carried out at different levels, including from sub-district authorities, to ensure proper use of funds.

The Regent also reminded that development is not only the government’s responsibility, but also the community’s.

“Safety and comfort start from the family, then the neighborhood. If everyone takes care, the impact will be bigger,” she said.

A New Direction for Development

The Dana Dusun program shows a new direction in regional development. Equal development does not always start from big projects, but from small and targeted actions at the grassroots level.

With this approach, Lumajang hopes to create development that is more inclusive, effective, and truly beneficial for its people.
