Globaltoday.id, Lumajang – The Government of Lumajang is stepping up efforts to transform cooperatives and small businesses into more modern and competitive economic players amid growing global challenges.
Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati подчеркed that cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) remain the backbone of the local economy and must continue to evolve to stay relevant.
“Cooperatives and MSMEs are the foundation of people’s economy. In today’s global situation, they must become stronger, more modern, and adaptive,” she said during the Regional Meeting of the Cooperative Council (Dekopinda) held at Pendopo Arya Wiraraja on April 30, 2026.
Four Key Strategies for Growth
To support this transformation, the local government has outlined four main priorities:
1. Digital Transformation
Businesses are encouraged to adopt digital platforms such as e-commerce, online marketplaces, and cashless payment systems to expand market reach.
2. Better Access to Financing
The government is strengthening partnerships with financial institutions to improve access to funding, including microcredit programs and inclusive financing schemes.
3. Capacity Building and Innovation
Training programs are being expanded to improve business management, product packaging, branding, and compliance with standards such as halal certification and national quality standards.
4. Market Expansion
Efforts are underway to connect local businesses with broader supply chains and support their participation in national and international exhibitions.
“These strategies are designed not just to help businesses survive, but to help them grow, upgrade, and compete at a higher level,” the Regent explained.
Adapting to a Changing Economy
She emphasized that adaptation is key in today’s fast-changing economic landscape, especially with increasing competition driven by technology and open markets.
Through these initiatives, the Lumajang government aims to turn cooperatives and MSMEs into strong, innovative, and sustainable drivers of the local economy—ensuring long-term resilience and growth for the community.
