Globaltoday.id, Lumajang – Several people were secured by the Narcotics Unit of Polres Lumajang at the hall of the Education Office in Lumajang on Monday afternoon (April 27, 2026).
The incident quickly spread and became a hot topic, with rumors saying “Drugs Enter Education Office.”
At around 6:30 PM on the same day, media observed a number of men at the police headquarters yard being escorted into a police vehicle. They were then taken to Bhayangkara Hospital for urine tests.
One by one, they entered a room for examination. Shortly after, one man was seen in handcuffs. After the process, all of them were taken back to the police station for further questioning by investigators.
Police spokesperson Ipda Suprapto confirmed the arrest. He explained that two people from the Education Office were also taken for checking because they were at the location during the arrest.
“Those who tested positive are private electrical workers. The people from the Education Office tested negative. They were taken only because they were at the scene,” he said.
Separately, Acting Head of the Lumajang Education Office, Patria Dwi Hastadi, also confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it is true that an arrest happened at the Education Office hall. But the suspect is not our staff. He is a private electrical worker hired for repair work,” he explained.
He added that he was surprised when the police asked for assistance during the arrest.
“At first, I thought it involved our staff. But it turned out to be an external worker. I was asked to assist because the location was inside the Education Office area,” he said.
After the urine tests, the two Education Office personnel were declared negative and allowed to go home.
“The results were negative, so they were released. This means they are not involved,” he concluded.
Police continue to investigate the case further, while the public is urged not to spread unverified information.
