Head-On Crash Between Bus and Dump Truck in Lumajang, Three Injured

Globaltoday.id, Lumajang – A traffic accident involving a bus and a dump truck occurred on a public road in Mlawang Village, Klakah District, Lumajang, on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) at around 8:00 PM.

The accident involved a Bus Bagong (license plate N-7944-UG) and a Mitsubishi dump truck (license plate N-8576-YH). The collision happened head-on and caused injuries to three people.

The bus driver, Abdullah (46), a resident of Jember, suffered a head injury and was taken to Dr. Haryoto Hospital in Lumajang. Two passengers were also injured. Nora Yacheva (32) suffered a leg injury, while Djulianto Adi (50) had a back injury. Both received treatment at Husada Clinic in Klakah.

Meanwhile, the dump truck driver, Bambang Supriyadi (35), was reported safe and did not suffer any injuries.

Chronology of the Accident6

According to initial reports, the bus was traveling from north to south and attempted to overtake another vehicle. However, it moved too far into the opposite lane.

At the same time, the dump truck was coming from the opposite direction (south to north), leading to a head-on collision that could not be avoided.

Police Statement

Kanit Gakkum Satlantas Polres Lumajang, IPDA Dandy, stated that the accident was caused by unsafe overtaking.

“The bus driver was less careful when overtaking and entered the opposite lane. This is very dangerous, especially at night,” he explained.

He also reminded drivers to always follow traffic rules and be more cautious on the road.

“Drivers must be patient and make sure the road is clear before overtaking. Safety should always come first,” he added.

Police Action

Police officers arrived quickly at the scene to conduct an investigation, secure evidence, and question witnesses, including Hendrik Irawan (34).

Authorities have also requested medical reports from the hospital to support further investigation.

There were no fatalities in this accident, but three people suffered injuries. The estimated material loss is around Rp5 million.

Police urge all road users to be more careful, especially when overtaking, to prevent similar accidents in the future.
