Lumajang Regent Swears In Three Acting Village Heads, Calls for Transparent Village Fund Management

Globaltoday.id, Lumajang – The Pemerintah Kabupaten Lumajang has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening transparent and accountable village governance through the inauguration of three acting village heads at the PKK Building in Lumajang on Thursday (May 7, 2026).

The inauguration was led directly by Regent Indah Amperawati, widely known as Bunda Indah, who officially appointed acting village heads for Yosowilangun Kidul, Dawuhan Wetan, and Banyuputih Lor villages.

Ensuring Public Services Continue During Leadership Transition

During her speech, the Regent stressed that the role of an acting village head is far more than filling an administrative vacancy. She described the position as a strategic responsibility that requires integrity, discipline, and dedication to public service.

“I do not want any interruption in public services. Even during a leadership transition, people must continue to receive proper services,” she said.

Transparency in Village Funds Becomes Main Focus

One of the key messages delivered by the Regent was the importance of transparent and disciplined management of village funds. She instructed the newly appointed officials to ensure that village budgets are managed properly and according to regulations, including encouraging the use of non-cash transactions in financial management.

According to her, transparent financial governance is essential to building public trust and ensuring development programs truly benefit local residents.

“Village budgets must be managed carefully, transparently, and on target so the benefits can be directly felt by the community,” she emphasized.

Village Funds Must Support Real Community Needs

The Regent explained that village funds should not merely be treated as administrative tools, but as instruments to accelerate rural development and community empowerment.

She said the programs financed by village funds should focus on real community needs, including:

* Basic public services
* Infrastructure development
* Local economic empowerment

Strengthening Social and Family Roles

Besides governance, Bunda Indah also highlighted the importance of strengthening social roles at the village level, particularly through the involvement of village PKK organizations in family development programs.

She encouraged PKK leaders to actively support efforts such as:

* Stunting prevention
* Family health improvement
* Social education for women and children

Building Harmony with the Community

The newly appointed acting village heads were also asked to immediately establish good communication with all community elements, including village councils, local leaders, neighborhood associations, and residents.

The Regent stated that village leadership is not only about administrative skills but also about the ability to unite people and maintain social harmony.

“A village leader must have a spirit of service and be present among the people,” she concluded.

The inauguration reflects the Lumajang government’s broader effort to improve village governance quality as the foundation for participatory, transparent, and sustainable regional development.
