Lumajang Targets Full CCTV Coverage Across 825 Hamlets to Strengthen Public Security

PUGlobaltoday.id, Lumajang – The Pemerintah Kabupaten Lumajang is accelerating the installation of CCTV cameras across all hamlets as part of a major effort to improve public security through technology-based monitoring and faster response systems.

The program is designed not only to add surveillance equipment, but also to build a more preventive, integrated, and community-oriented security system reaching the village level.

Regent Indah Amperawati, popularly known as Bunda Indah, stated that the CCTV installation project has become one of the local government’s top priorities in strengthening safety and public order.

“I want all hamlets to have CCTV installed by next week. I have also instructed officials to speed up the disbursement of hamlet funds,” she said during a briefing at Pendopo Arya Wiraraja on Friday night (May 8, 2026).

Security Program Covers 825 Hamlets

Currently, Lumajang has 825 hamlets spread across 198 villages and 21 districts. To support the acceleration program, the local government has allocated Rp50 million in hamlet funds for each hamlet, with part of the budget prioritized for strengthening neighborhood security systems.

According to Bunda Indah, CCTV cameras are expected to improve area monitoring and help security officers track incidents more effectively whenever disturbances or crimes occur.

However, she emphasized that the project is also intended to create a stronger sense of collective safety among residents.

“Public security must be built through concrete and measurable actions. CCTV is expected to help create safer neighborhoods and make people feel more protected,” she explained.

Government Ready to Assist Technical Challenges

The Lumajang administration also promised technical support for hamlets facing challenges related to internet access, WiFi connections, or other infrastructure needed for the surveillance system.

“If there are obstacles related to internet networks or other technical issues, the local government will provide assistance so the installation can run smoothly,” she added.

Combining Technology and Community Participation

The CCTV acceleration program is part of Lumajang’s broader strategy to modernize regional security systems through cooperation between local government, law enforcement agencies, village administrations, and local communities.

Besides improving monitoring capabilities, the initiative also reflects a new approach to public security that combines community participation with technological support.

With surveillance systems becoming more integrated down to the hamlet level, the Lumajang government hopes preventive action against crime and public disturbances can be carried out more quickly while creating a safer, more orderly, and more comfortable environment for residents.
