This message was emphasized by Rahayu Agus Triyono, Chairperson of GOPTKI Lumajang, during an Islamic parenting session themed “Building a Righteous Generation from an Early Age” held at TK Al Firdaus Tempeh on April 30, 2026.
She explained that parenting in today’s modern era requires greater awareness and active involvement from parents. With rapid technological growth and social changes, children are more exposed to outside influences, making strong family values more important than ever.
“Children should not rely only on academic skills. What matters most is building good character, positive habits, and life values from an early stage,” she said.
According to her, the family plays the most important role in shaping a child’s personality. Lessons learned at home become the foundation for how children think, behave, and make decisions in the future.
“Schools only strengthen what is already built at home. If parents consistently give good examples, children will grow with strong character,” she added.
She also highlighted the importance of leading by example. Children tend to imitate what they see in daily life, not just what they are told.
“Children are great imitators. Parents must become real examples. Character education is not just about advice, but about actions,” she stressed.
In addition, she encouraged parents to adapt to the digital era, especially in guiding children’s use of technology. Proper supervision is needed to protect children from negative content and influences.
“Parents must be present—not only physically, but also emotionally and through communication. In today’s digital world, this presence is essential,” she explained.
Through this Islamic parenting program, GOPTKI Lumajang aims to raise awareness that raising children is primarily the responsibility of the family and must be done consistently.
With strong cooperation between parents and educational institutions, Lumajang hopes to develop a generation that is not only smart, but also has integrity, strong values, and the ability to face future challenges.
